MECA: Make Elections Count Again

Our votes are precious! They should be counted with the same care and accuracy as the rich people count their money! We need a reformed election count mechanism to ensure fair representation of all votes in Congress and the election of the President

Donald Trump has shown powerfully how corruptable the US election system is. By redrawing the districts in Texas he can pre-steal the next election. This is a caricature of Democracy where the power in Congress is largely decoupled from the votes that the voters cast. Many eligible voters in the US are so frustrated by this corrupted system that they do not vote at all. They clearly understand that most votes in most states do not matter.

To reestablish the intended function of a voting system Trashwalker.org proposes a tune-up of the vote counting algorithm to ensure a fair representation of the will of all voters in each state by their Congress men and women.
The Trashwalker Gerrymander Flush Algorithm will apply the concept of grading on a curve that most students have experienced in school when an unfairly hard test was graded with an adjusted threshold to provide fair grades to all students. In the  reformed election system we will sort the districts in the state according to the vote percentage of the party that won a majority of districts. We then will determine the transition threshold in the majority party percentage that allocates the number of seats for the minority party to equitably correspond to the voter share of the minority party. With this simple modification of the vote count algorithm the corrosive impact of Gerrymandering can be healed. All votes in a state are reflected in the congressional representation. This will give voters in all states an incentive to vote, even if they have been gerrymandered into a district that is not competitive in the existing system.

We ask the commissions that draw voting districts to do so with the goal that the Gerrymander flush algorithm is rarely used as a corrective measure. This will ensure that voters agree that the result of an election is fair.
